The Gentle Leader SpraySense Collar uses patented SprayLogik technology to deliver a harmless burst of citronella spray to interrupt your dogs barking. It acts on four of your dog's five senses - he hears it, sees it, feels it and smells it. Citronella is a unique scent that most dogs don't normally encounter. It's non-offensive to humans yet unusual enough to distract your dog and interrupt the unwanted behavior. Shock and ultra-sonic collars attempt to reduce barking with pain. In addition to being less effective than spray, pain often increases anxiety and aggression and makes some behavior problems worse. When to use: The Gentle Leader SpraySense Collar can be used with any breed of dog that weighs 6 lbs. or more and is at least 6 months old. If your dog is smaller or younger please check first with your veterinarian. It is ideal for controlling general nuisance barking both indoors and outdoors. It is not recommended for anxiety-related barking unless specifically directed by a behavior profession. it was easy to set up and it worked well for about 2 months. Then it stopped working. I called Premier. They told me to send it back and they would replace it with no charge. It turns out that the unit has a LIFE TIME warranty. 1 week later I had a new collar and a free can of spray. HEY! Great customer service. I would recomend this product to anyone. Great service goes a long way!

I have a 30lb terrier who would bark incessantly when someone came in the house, the doorbell would ring or even at a house noise that she considered unusual. I would not have believed that this collar would work but we were desperate and didn't want to go the route of a shock collar if it could be avoided. What a difference this has made!!! Her barking is down 90%! If she does bark (and she knows that it is connected to the collar) she does a low level growl or bark that will not activate the collar and I can handle that. I didn't want to eliminate her bark completely just get it under control and it is. I recommend it to everyone that has a barker, it is worth trying.

I had really high hopes for this product to stop my dog from barking. I even had a relative that said it worked for her. Unfortunately, my dog toughed it out and would bark until all of the solution ran out and he was back to barking at full force. I probably says more about my dog and my training abilities than the product.

I have a beagle mix who likes to drag out his howl in the worst way so I started using the spray collar. At first he was really depressed because he didn't know what was going on, but after a bit he adjusted. As time went on, I realized it was useful to stop him from digging and being too rowdy with the other dogs in the house. It got to a point where he wore the collar too often (the instructions say not to do that) and he got used to it. Now he knows when he has it on and when he doesn't and behaves accordingly. This is definately my fault, but it's important to know if you're thinking about buying this product, IT IS NOT AN EQUAL REPLACEMENT OF TRAINING. It's also not natural to the species to strap a collar with a spray around their neck to stop them from misbehaving. The collar comes with instructions on how to use it as a tool, not a crutch, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. But knowing what I know, I wouldn't buy this product again. I would just put the time and effort into training my pup the right way.
